IMG_3041Yesterday started with a “bridal shower” and  ended with a “bachelorette party” in my honor.

I’m intrigued and perplexed by the many “traditions” surrounding a wedding these days, which essentially is about deciding to commit yourself to your partner for the rest of your life.

As many brides before me I’m sure, I have been overwhelmed by the expectations to do things according to tradition: you need a bouquet, you should walk down an aisle, you have to register for gifts, you need to have a bridal shower, you should invite so and so, and the list goes on. All of these things are just details that probably won’t matter a month from now.  Its all part of the process of learning about yourself, your partner, and both of your families.

What’s most important is making memories with family and friends, both old and new.

When all the dust settles from the celebrations and excitement surrounding our “wedding extravaganza”  I am confident I will look back and know I was surrounded by great family and friends who really love us.  And the memories will make me smile. A lot. IMG_3032

And thats really what matters in life. Right?IMG_3038

A delicious drink

Mix a shot each of triple sec and huckleberry vodka with juice of half a lime in shaker filled with ice. Shake it up.  Pour into to sugar lined martini glasses, then top with a splash of sparkling citrus tangerine. Drink. Repeat. Drink. Repeat. Bed.
